The biggest responsibility of the Political Affairs Committee during the school year is to organize the trip to D.O. Day on the Hill in Washington, D.C., where students meet with lawmakers about healthcare legislation.  With all that is happening this year concerning healthcare reform, it is even more strongly encouraged that students participate in D.O. Day on the Hill which will be held on April 29, 2010.

The political affairs committee is also responsible for facilitating political awareness and activity by students.  It is especially important that we are aware and engaged in any possible legislation at the state level that will affect healthcare.  This includes interfacing with other organizations that are positive political forces in the state such as the American Cancer Society.  With the current interest in healthcare reform, it is possible that there will be plenty of opportunity for this committee in the near future.
